We need a new thread sooooooooo............ what welding helmets do you use? I've just got myself a Speedglas 9100 and I think it's great. Expensive though.

Hi herbs, I have heard good things about the lincoln 210c and its good to see that your happy with it. Can you give us a basic run down on how it performs. As far as welding helmets go i have a miller digital elite and it works really well with no issues with it. The only thing that i dont like about it is that its a bit top heavy and you need to tighten the head piece fairly tight to keep it in place. Maybe a better designed head piece and balance of the helmet will fix this up. It has a light state shade of 4 and it would be much better if it was a shade 3 which will improve where to weld when in a darker enviroment.

with the Lincoln, so far I've done heavy 5mm thick plate and now some panelwork, it gets the job done with no fuss. I haven't used it enough to comment about reliability, but I'm confident it'll hold up. Something that might be handy is a longer earth lead, but it's not too much of a concern.

Only other thing that might be a concern is that Lincoln use their own type of welding gun, but that shouldn't be too much of an issue for most of us. Have been going hammer and tongs on some panelwork and the Lincoln has had no dramas.

So it isn't a standard euro fit set up.

I bought one of these solar powered instant dark helmets on ebay really great until the heat produced sets fire to paint on welding repair job it starts to flicker on and off, at least you get warning of fire and quickly extinguish it.
