My little gasless mig has developed an intermittent feed It will work well for a few short runs and stalls if I help it with pliers it'll feed after feeding 5 to 10Mt of perfectly good wire it starts feeding on it's own for a few more short runs.
If I release the pressure on the wire the drive spins freely is it possible the feed motor need attention? I only use it once or twice a year these days. Cheers Damien.

Problem solved I stripped down the feed drive and the gears were clogged the grease that had gone as hard as candle wax some 3 in 1 oil loosened it up and all is well.

I was going to suggest checking out the wire feed roller but you have looked deeper and found the issues. A good lesson for all of us when you dont use the welding machine for a long time that they will get some dust inside and lubricated parts can and will bind up.Its always a good idea to check your machine if not used for a long time or stored in not so ideal ideal places.
