This is the first thread in this section and so i am looking for peoples opinion. A mate of mine asked me to recommend a quality brand cordless tool kit (drill, circular saw, impact driver ets). These kits come in many fifferent combos ,features, battery type and usage time. For the life of me i could not give him an answer mainly because i dont have such a set myself. What brands have you used, purchased and the reasons why you did. These tools are not cheap as you are buying quality in the tool itself and very good batteries lithium ion. Your thoughts and views will be greatly appreciated and maybe help others who are considering buying cordless tools in the future.

G'day, there's a few top quality kits around, personally I recommend Hitachi, I have a 14.4 volt Hitachi cordless drill that's now a few years old and it hasn't missed a beat. The newest range of 18 volt hitachi stuff with the lithium-ion batteries are ace in my opinion, expect to pay between $2000-$2500 for a full kit. Otherwise, one would be very happy with Hilti (very expensive, but VERY NICE), also Makita's newest lithium-ion powered stuff is nice to use and a big step up from their previous stuff, which I thought were very ordinary. Otherwise, Dewalt are good, but I think the Hitachi and Hilti range are better - Dewalt also use crappy Black and Decker parts in repairs too.
Hope that helps,
Cheers.

Sorry guys i have not been online the last few days and i will try to catch up with things. Its hard to know what to get in the cordless range of tools and price is the killer when you take into account quality brands with lith-ion battery. They are the best as far as longevity goes as they have no memory and they hold their charge a lot longer which is great if you dont use them every day. It seems to be cheaper to buy the combo kit because for a few more hundred dollars you get a lot more tools. I have not had the time to look into it properly but will keep an eye out each time i go into a tool shop.
