For those contemplating purchase of an Oxy acetylene cutting plant. While many criticize them due to the cost of cylinder rental , a lot forget the large amount of work possible with them.
For starters, the very obvious one is oxy acetylene cutting allowing cutting of plate between 3 and 75mm (yes 75mm its not a misprint) of steel plate.. Cutting of circles is aided by use of pivot attachments.a circle can be cut right down to a tolerance of perhaps .5mm if you are good enough.
Then there is oxy acetylene welding of steel, stainless steel ,cast iron (aluminium -not much -these days -but can be done) and most other common metals.
Add to that the ability to silver solder and braze and heat -ideal on thin walled material - makes the unit a very versatile and useful tool that greatly extends the metal working capabilities of any who choose to use it.
Its not for everyone but the capabilities it has make it a very good addition to any metal workshop that wants to have the capacity to handle most jobs.
